I'm an active creature of habit and thus when I can't workout on a daily basis I'm all out of sorts. [Not sure how I am going to get around that when/if we have kids]
Anyways things are slowly getting back to normal and I have been getting back into a training regime. Last night was my first ride outside in my new neighborhood. We live on the edge of the city so I have quick access to some of the back roads which make for some nice riding. I didn't get out until late in the evening so couldn't ride as long as I would have liked. But overall it was pretty great ride which took me through some of my old training grounds when we lived here before.
I sandwiched in a 20 minute tempo effort into the ride...gosh, I am out of biking shape...almost two weeks without biking and it felt more like an entire year. Regardless, it is a starting point and I know improvements will come over the next several months before the Calgary 70.3. I'm excited!
I am pumped for the weekend on a number of fronts. Training-wise I have several longish workouts planned. Outside of training, both Mel and I (well, really more Mel than me) will be doing some unpacking/organizing and shopping around for some furniture pieces. It feels so great to be together again and starting a new life back here in Calgary.
Have a great weekend!

As near as I can tell, if you have kids, your life goes to hell till one of several things happen:
1- they become humans. Apparently this can happen any time between ages 2 and 102.
2-They leave. This often happens between about 15 and 30, but has been known to happen much later, and if you've been really bad in a previous life, they never leave.
3-You divorce and she takes the kids. Some friends reliably inform me that hell will seem like a picnic after this, unless you're very lucky. Like win the lottery three weeks running lucky.
4 - You kill yourself. Some friends tell me this seems like a viable alternative when the kids are about 2.
5 - You take my advice, and buy duct tape by the carload. Rail car. Apply liberally. Ahhhh, silence.
6 - Some irresponsible people advise escaping to teach English as a second language in an obscure Bhuddist village on Rapa Nui. If you're really nice to me, I'll tell you how to find it. Oops, did I say that out loud?
Rebuttal by parents with children??? Ah, thought not, since my buddy Vince doesn't read this blog.
Glad to hear the settling in process is going well.
Your training is going to go by leaps and bounds now that you are settled in. :) :) Now you can get down to business! :) :)
Trust me you will have no energy let to train if/when you have kids and therefore not one drop of guilt. Just pray you have girls, (for your training sake) but this will come back to haunt you when they start getting interested in boys. My dad has a shot gun he can loan you.
