After the 10.5 hour drive in the snow and ice we got to the camp and were already an hour behind. The next day we were having issues getting the car down the iced hills in the residential areas and arrived at swim late but managed to get taped. Then there was the catching up on sleep thing and of course, the rider game and then we were gone!! Really fast course. It&#39;s all in a park on smooth roads, at least they used to be. This is where Simon Whitfield burst onto the scene and beat Mark Bates for his first National championship and later third at Pan-Am. behind Gilberto Gonzalez and Hunter Kemper. And they aren&#39;t as flat as you&#39;d think. Not sure i&#39;d go that far, but I do know it&#39;s really old. Was a IMC qualifier for the longest time. The swim can be cold and rough, apparently very deep. Not flat either, although no huge hills but rolling. Still my oly pb, but that year the swim was short.
